Black Angel is an eight piece soul assault from Portland, Oregon. Now
Portland and soul music is not as compatible as Detroit and Soul or
Philly and Soul, but for almost 2 years, making Soul music synonymous
with Portland is what Black Angel has been doing very successfully.
To categorize Black Angel as just a Soul band would be limiting: jazz, blues, indigenous and rock influence their sound as well. Far from being musically diffuse, Black Angel is able to weave their influences into a tapestry that honors these roots while not being tied to them. |
